Installation Process

What to expect during installation

Start by checking availability. If your address is serviceable, PD Fiber follows a clear installation process designed to keep you informed and moving forward as quickly as possible.

Typical timing

PD Fiber strives to complete all install steps within 10 business days or less. Timelines can vary because of utility locates, boring needs, weather, damaged infrastructure, or other unexpected conditions.

How the path changes

Some installs move faster than others

Existing fiber infrastructure can reduce the amount of work needed. New service locations usually begin with a survey before utility locates, drop installation, and the inside install are scheduled.

Previously served locations often move faster

If the home or business already has usable fiber infrastructure, PD Fiber can often schedule the remaining work quickly.

New locations usually start with a survey

A new install normally begins with a pre-install survey so the team can plan the right work safely.

Step by step

A simple installation timeline

1

Check availability and request service

Start by checking availability. If the address is serviceable, PD Fiber begins the installation process.

2A

Previously served location

If the residence or business has had PD Fiber service before, installation can normally be scheduled right away. Customers can often be connected within one or two business days, and sometimes the same business day, depending on technician availability and whether existing fiber equipment needs attention.

2B

New service location

If the location has never had PD Fiber service, a pre-install survey is scheduled right away and normally completed within one or two business days. A PD Fiber employee or contractor checks what work is needed to connect service.

3

Utility locates and Missouri 811 One Call

After the pre-install survey, the location is submitted to Missouri 811 One Call so underground utilities can be marked. Utility locates normally clear in about four business days.

4

Road or highway bore if needed

If a road or highway bore is required, PD Fiber schedules that work with an underground contractor. A bore can add a couple of days to the overall process.

5

Fiber drop installation

Once locates are cleared, PD Fiber installs the fiber drop from the nearest pedestal to the residence or business. A Network Interface Device, or NID, is mounted on the home or building and the drop is verified.

6

Home or business installation

After the drop is installed and verified, PD Fiber schedules the inside installation. A PD Fiber technician completes the steps needed to connect service.

7

Service connected

PD Fiber strives to complete all install steps within 10 business days or less. Unexpected issues can add time, but the team works to connect service as quickly as possible while maintaining professionalism and safety.
